I thought that Derek would want to go to the pumpkin patch with us, so on Saturday, we trekked out to the nearest patch to us, which was a 30 minute drive. And by the way...not a real pumpkin patch. Didn't know REAL ones existed until I moved to New Jersey. I always thought they simply popped out of the ground and sat there. Ok, not really, but last year at a local farm near our old townhome, they would take you on the tractor and drop you off in the middle of the field of pumpkins...that you PULLED OFF THE VINE. How cool is that? Anyways, I digress, but we went knowing we would just be picking it up off the ground. It has been raining a lot here the past couple of weeks, and when we got there, Derek made some snarky (I really used that) comment about getting stuck in the mud. Guess what happened??? We got stuck in the mud in the parking lot.** Thanks to people in Texas that own huge f-150s, 4 wheel drive and were nice enough to help us, we were able to get pulled out. Needless to say...we went home pumpkinless and mad.
2nd try was today with just me and Joshua. If you can't tell, I am pretty determined to get ourselves to the darn pumpkin patch. We went with our local PTA that had planned it as our October outing. Knowing about the mud, I was a little apprehensive and Derek just said, "Good luck...don't get stuck in the mud!". Thanks.
Anyways, a successful trip..got a pumpkin, came home covered in mud. Joshua enjoyed dancing in the mud and I just gave up and let him. Brought an extra pair of pants and hoped for the best. I think what Joshua liked best about the trip was the fields that he could run in. He loves wide open space and can just run around and around in it. This would be why I couldn't get any
pictures of him just standing next to a pumpkin. Only the back of him and maybe the front while he was running.
There were also some Dora, Boots and Diego wooden things that he absolutely loved which was so funny because we don't watch them that often these days. Here he is offering his drink and giving kisses to them.
Oh and here's our pumpkin we 'picked' at the patch. It was in a big house and this was one we got for free since we were with the PTA. We'll be picking out a bigger one to carve in another week or so. They even had stickers for us to decorate!
**These types of things always happen to us...or maybe more me...I am known to be accident prone and it's been a few months, so I suppose for quarter end...this was my accident.

Wow, 3 times in 2 days! Way to go. I need to do something fallish w/ my kids. Maybe if I can ever get Todd home! We may do the Boo Zoo this weekend, so that's fallish! :)
