Pumpkin Patch

So we made our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch this past Friday. We had lots of fun as usual..well, except for the first year. Here's the recap in case you forgot. When I look at pictures from that year, to this year, it's amazing to me how much older he looks. He has definitely gotten taller these past couple of months and his face has thinned out quite a bit. Sad to lose the baby face....

Here's some of our fun memories:

We got to decorate our pumpkin with our PTA, so he was very excited that his looked like a cat. He's got a cookie mustache to go with it. :)

Cake Walk

We were in San Antonio last weekend visiting grandparents and after church, there was a fall festival there. When we went inside, there was a cake walk going on. After I explained to Joshua what a cake walk was and how you play, he was interested. Who wouldn't be when there are dozens of cakes sitting on the table?

We didn't win the first time, but the second time, Joshua won! I think I was almost more excited than him. Of course, I was a little worried about what cake he would pick...he was pointing out this ridiculous 3 tier cake that he liked. But, of course, this would be the cake he picked. :)

What I found most interesting about the whole think was that after he won, he kept saying, "Mom, I'm the ONLY one who won." The whole idea of 'everyone' wins when they play games and sports and things like that doesn't mean that kids like it. His statement to me about him being the only one winning is just an indication that kids need their own validation (even if it's just winning a cake walk), not everybody will win.
