Bulking up
We went to the doctor today for our 15 month check-up today and it went fine. Joshua now weighs 22 lbs & 3 ounces and is 30 3/4 inches tall. He's slowed down A LOT in growth since right around his 1 year birthday. He barely gained a pound and an inch over the past couple of months. The doctor thinks it's because he's not getting enough milk. Well, my child doesn't really like milk and he would rather not drink much somedays than drink milk...so we have resorted to 'bulking up' by having him start eating milkshakes and Pediasure. The doctor's not too worried and neither am I, but he already eats quite a bit and now trying to shove more food and drink into him isn't necessarily the easiest thing. But I will try...the way he is now is kind of how I expected him to be when he came out of me, but he was super huge when he was little and is now in the 25-50% in height and weight and that's what the doctor is worried about. If you see pics of him in the next few months with some extra rolls on him, then you know we've been giving him flaxseed oil and the 'clear creme'!!! Just kidding, it will mainly be fries and milkshakes! :)

Fall is here
Fall has officially arrived in New Jersey. Yesterday was our 'hot' day of a high of 80 degrees and the rest of the week is suppose to remain in the low 70s. So we are in pants in the morning and shorts in the afternoon with a jacket thrown on. No changing colors yet, but leaves are dropping. I am hoping that we can go to a local farm this weekend to look at pumpkins and get some fresh veggies before it gets too chilly.
In other news, our house has been on the market for 6 days. Someone came this weekend to look at our place. I forget how much I dislike having to clear out of the house while someone walks through it, critiques it and tells you how they don't like it. Of course, it's harder now with Joshua. With his toys, I have a hard time trying to throw everything out of sight at the last minute before someone comes. So we now have a catch-all bucket that we throw his toys in if someone comes in at the last minute. We are still hoping and praying to St. Joseph that someone likes our place.
Joshua is definitely walking more and more these days. He is currently playing with my cell phone, talking and walking around the house. I finally had to figure out the keypad lock on my phone because he keeps getting on the internet on my phone and he's called Derek a couple of times at work. I think he's also called my sister Amanda, but I managed to hang it up before she woke up. :)
He is also still obsessed with cars and loves watching them everyday in the car, at the park and playing outside the house. He gets so excited about them that he attempts to chase them and this has led to 2 scraped knees and a roll down a hill.
Lastly, today is his 15 month old birthday. We go to the doctor tomorrow for our check-up and Im interested to see his stats. I know he's gotten taller, but I'm pretty sure that he didn't gain that much weight these past few months. I'll keep you updated later!

Our Ambi-Turner and other things
In case you're not sure about our title above, it's from the movie 'Zoolander' with Ben Stiller. Check out the link for a collection of the best quotes from the movie.
I apologize, I digress. The reason why this is our title, is because Joshua spent the weekend walking everywhere! He discovered that he could turn (hence the ambi-turner) while walking and this propelled him all over the house. We also got our first wound from walking around. He hit his face on the table and now has a nasty looking bruise. I took a picture of it, but it doesn't look as bad in a picture. He ran around down there today for a good 30 minutes straight. He was so excited he kept going! Of course he was exhausted tonight, but that's ok! Here's a video of him walking all through the basement.
We spent our weekend cleaning out our basement storage closet and officially putting our house on the market. If anyone is interested in a townhouse in New Jersey, let us know! :) We also spent quality time watching football. We're looking forward to the Cowboys game tomorrow night.
Finally, I just wanted to say that we are thinking of our family in Houston and recovering from Ike. Luckily, those that we know in the city are safe and are trying to clean up the mess it left behind. Yea for electricity back on at my parents house!

You know you're a Parent when....
You cut up your pickle at a restaurant into tiny pieces even though your child isn't there and doesn't even eat pickles. I did this a couple of weeks ago without any thought and didn't even realize I did it until I looked down and stopped talking. :)-
Anybody else have moments that they've done something like this?

We're starting to walk!
Of course I have no video because he only does it when I'm not paying attention. When we get video, I will upload. Joshua has walked across his room several times now. He tries to walk every now and then in other parts of the house, but he is still pretty unsteady, so he plops down. It's funny because when we're in the kitchen and he takes a few steps to the middle of the room, he stops, smiles and claps for himself very quietly. Too cute. :)
In other random news, he now knows the sign for 'all gone'. Whenever we're done eating, he gives me sign, or if he is done with what is in his mouth and wants more, he gives the sign. He has also taken to hiding when he goes #2 in his diaper. He gets really quiet, and then he crawls really quickly to wherever he thinks is a hiding spot. It's usually under the kitchen table, under one of our side tables, or the corner of the room. I read that this is a sign of possible potty training readiness. Is that really true? I'm eager to get out of diapers, but this seems pretty early...opinions, anyone?

5 Things that have happened in the last few weeks

It's been a while since I've blogged, so here is a summary in a Top 5 list.
5)Derek and I went to Princeton by ourselves for a day and visited the campus and the area. We also walked to Albert Einstein's house. It is now a private residence, so we were one of the annoying tourists who took a picture in front of the house.
4)DeeDee and Papa came and visited us this past week. We had a great time with them. Joshua took a couple of days to get used to them, but he had a great time. Aunt Tricia and Uncle Dean came over Labor Day weekend to visit too. He still only really does 'Touchdown" with Aunt Tricia.
3)Joshua is 'talking' more these days. He babbles a lot of sounds together and sometimes it makes it sound like he is actually stringing words together.
2)So we're still talking about walking....he is so close...walking pretty fast when we walk with him and pushing his toys around all the time.
1) Derek got a new position in the company and we are MOVING BACK TO DALLAS, TEXAS!!! If you can't tell, I am pretty excited about it. :) The past couple of weeks have been a little hectic. This week the appraisers and realtors are coming, so we are hoping to have our place on the market by next week! Our goal is to be in Dallas by early December, but that is pushing it! So, it will probably be closer to the beginning of next year. We're a little sad about leaving here because of the friends we made, but we are looking forward to being closer to family and other friends!
