Bulking up

We went to the doctor today for our 15 month check-up today and it went fine.  Joshua now weighs 22 lbs & 3 ounces and is 30 3/4 inches tall.  He's slowed down A LOT in growth since right around his 1 year birthday.  He barely gained a pound and an inch over the past couple of months. The doctor thinks it's because he's not getting enough milk.  Well, my child doesn't really like milk and he would rather not drink much somedays than drink milk...so we have resorted to 'bulking up' by having him start eating milkshakes and Pediasure.  The doctor's not too worried and neither am I, but he already eats quite a bit and now trying to shove more food and drink into him isn't necessarily the easiest thing.  But I will try...the way he is now is kind of how I expected him to be when he came out of me, but he was super huge when he was little and is now in the 25-50% in height and weight and that's what the doctor is worried about.  If you see pics of him in the next few months with some extra rolls on him, then you know we've been giving him flaxseed oil and the 'clear creme'!!! Just kidding, it will mainly be fries and milkshakes! :)

Avery shot right back up to where she would have been. Personally I don't think those charts are that great of markers as every kid is different. However if you want some tips from the "nutritionist" we saw (were sent to) at the hospital check this out - http://westbrooklyn.blogspot.com/2007/11/advice-to-be-taken-with-grain-of-sugar.html

Maybe joshua is just waiting for a little instant breakfast in his milk?

I wouldn't worry about him at all. He is still a very healthy boy at 22+lbs at 15 months. I think it is very normal for kids to slow down in their growth once they start walking. Jacob only put on 1 pound between 12 and 15 months (and about 1 3/4 inches).

I just looked at J's stats - he put on almost 3 1/2 lbs between 15 and 18 months, so no need to worry.

Samuel is only about 22 lbs also and 0th%ile at 2 years. Don't let the doctor worry you. I'd be more worried that he'd get "fat" eating french fries and milkshakes and would develop bad habits. I'm sure he's doing great, he looks great!
