Cross Country Food Poisoning, Birthdays and Spring Break

It's been a busy couple of weeks for us around here. Derek was in Chicago a couple of weeks ago, and when he landed that Monday, he got food poisoning. The next day, while I was here in Dallas, I got food poisoning. Since it happened a good 24 hours apart, we were pretty sure it wan't related. But with him sick and me sick with Joshua, it didn't make for fun times. I am not the type to throw up ever, so for me to do it twice in one day....it was bad. First time I had thrown up in over 10 years!

I managed to recover enough to celebrate my birthday...I never really think I'm as old as I am until my birthday comes up. And then these days, i feel a little older than I think I should be. And then I hang around my sister and sometimes I feel OLD. :) Aunt Amanda came up for a few days over the weekend and that was great because she helped us celebrate my birthday and she got to spend quality time with Joshua and I. Especially since she hasn't got to spend much time with him. He warmed up to her by the end of the visit, so we know she'll be back for more! She and I went a little cupcake crazy and baked a few dozen. Reason why is because Derek ordered flowers for me on my b-day (because he was out of town on my birthday!) and since they were Martha Stewart flowers, it came with a subscription to her magazine. I had no clue and was completely puzzled because the magazine started coming before the flowers arrived. They sent me back orders of the magazine and so i got 4 in 2 days! Anyways, one issue was all about cupcakes and we got excited and made coconut ones and brownie ones. Delicious!

Joshua was on his Spring Break from school and we took the time to enjoy the great spring like weather we've been having. He's enjoying playing with water more than last summer, so we played in the backyard with his water toys. We're probably going to have to get another baby pool to play in! We also took a quick drive down to San Antonio and Joshua got to spend a couple of days with his grandparents while Derek and I went to Austin and spent the night there and enjoyed SXSW (another post to come about that...mainly about the music and movie we saw). We would have loved to stay longer, but we wanted to get back and get a day of 'rest' before we headed back to our normal schedule. But we're glad to be home and next week....we are going to see Thomas the Tank Engine and go for a ride!
