Absorbing everything

I always read about how little ones are like sponges and absorb everything they see, hear, touch, etc. But it's always interesting to actually see it in action. One thing that he did today was while we were at our Gym class. It always ends with a stamp on their hand. I was waiting for the crowd to clear and Joshua looks at me and points to his hand where they always stamp it! Amazing, that he can understand so much more than he used to and to start telling me what he wants.....granted I am sure there are going to be some downsides to that aspect pretty soon. :) But it's pretty neat to actually see things click in his head.
We have been on our own now for a few days and things are going pretty well. Joshua realizes that his Dad is gone. Just little things, like he doesn't go into Derek's closet like he used to and pull out the hangers. He hasn't been near his closet at all which is really weird for him. Plus, he gives me funny looks at bedtime when I read him his stories because his Dad usually puts him to bed. Cute and sad at the same time.
To keep ourselves busy, we went back to another farm in our area and looked at animals there. We really just looked. Joshua had no desire to get near the animals. Being a city girl myself, I don't really blame him. But I was going to suck it up and get some feed and feed the goats and cows that were there, but he wanted nothing to do with it. Fine by me! We also went back to the farm that had apple picking and ran around there during the weekend and took a hayride. They had a huge pumpkin patch there where we could pick our own pumpkin, but since we won't be here for Halloween, I decided against picking one. He loves that farm and running through the apple orchards there. I wish we could go there everyday, but I feel bad just because I don't really need anymore apples, so i would just be using their farm for Joshua to run around in. But if I get desperate, then that is what we will do and I will probably come home with something like a pie that I would eat by myself in 2 days. :)
