Down by the Shore

So we are back from the Shore and we had a lovely time. Joshua got a little sun and is starting to look a little tan, much to the dismay of his Dad who was hoping he would remain pasty white like him. Joshua loved the sand and crawling around in it and playing in it. He would attempt to eat it every now and then and he wouldn't like the taste, but that didn't really stop him from trying again. Joshua also really liked the ocean. Unfortunately, it was absolutely freezing, so we couldn't actually get in, but we did get at the edge and let him stick his feet in and pat the water. He liked it when we 'jumped' the waves and got a big kick out of it. So our days were spent waking up, taking a walk on the beach, napping, playing at the beach, grilling and eating outside and playing in our baby pool. A very nice vacation overall. Plus, it helped that the drive isn't that far.
He has also figured out how to crawl on his hands and feet now. He got really good at it while we were at the Shore, mainly crawling around the deck area of the place that we stayed. It reminds us of Spiderman, so whenever he does it, it makes us want to sing the Spiderman song. I have a feeling that as soon as he figures out how to stand up from this position, he going to take off running and skip the whole walking part.
So we are just getting used to being back to our routine (which Joshua is a big fan of) and trying to clean up a bit and recover from the vacation. Joshua also figured out how to whine REALLY well. He only uses the 'N' sound when he is whining. So if he is not happy we hear, "Nay,nay,nay....". That's the only time that we hear it, so while we're not sure what it means, we get the jist because it's related to him whining in some way! We've started cutting back on bottles and so that has made things a little more difficult in the afternoon. But we're getting used to eating a snack and some juice instead. I'm going to try and get rid of the morning bottle next week, so that should be fun times!! :)
