Sentences are coming out

Joshua is pretty much speaking in complete sentences these days which is amazing to me because it seemed like a few weeks ago that he wasn't. He's also getting more independent and likes to tell me, "Joshua do it!" Which is nice for some things except for when he wants to empty his pee from his little toilet to the regular one. A little wrestling and praying he doesn't miss. :)

Some of my favorite statements he says now:

-"The window is on fire" (back story on this: we'd been singing, "The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire"). He just started substituting window in for it.
-"I help Dad with suitcases on airplane and bus." This is from when we took our trip to San Diego and he keeps talking about it.
-"What are you doing Mom/Dad?"
-"Daddy going to circus with me to see elephants." We haven't actually gone to the circus yet. I mentioned it to him one day and he talks about it all the time.
-"I turn 3 Mom." He keeps saying it since his birthday.

4th of July - It's Beautiful!

We had a great 4th of July. This is the first year that we went to the neighborhood parade. we also went to a friends house to watch the neighborhood fireworks and Joshua loved it. He was so excited about the parade even though it wasn't anything big. The fire truck lead the way and the rest of the parade was golf carts and kids and parents on decorated bikes. They gave out free popsicles and Joshua kept saying, "I am SO HAPPY!"

At our friend's house, we got to play and swim and eat. This was our first time letting him stay up late and he thought it was great. Our friends had an outdoor fire pit, so we got to roast s'mores too! Joshua thought that was the fireworks and he kept telling me that it was the fireworks and that "It's beautiful!" So cute!

Here's a picture of the boys watching the parade.

Potty training is gross

I think that comment is assumed, but you never really know how gross until you actually start. I feel like I am currently picking up after a dog since we are working on going #2 in the potty. Last night, my son thought that the best place to go would be on the stairs. I'll take some of the blame since I didn't put pants on him, but seriously??? The stairs???

Joshua is 3!

Joshua is 3 today. Holy cow!! I actually took him somewhere to get his pictures taken this year. I thought he might be a little more cooperative...he was enough to get pictures!

As usual his vocabulary has increased a lot. He likes to tell me where we're going when we're driving in the car. I stupidly follow his directions, thinking that he knows where we're going and then stop listening to him after I drive in a circle. Other things he likes to tell me is that we are going to a friends house...even though we haven't been invited.

We're in the midst of potty training. Everything was going pretty well until we had our birthday party this weekend and we've regressed a bit, much to my frustration. But I am trying to practice patience...which is a feat for me!

Here are some pictures from today that we took at Portrait Innovations. They're not cropped or anything since they are coming from the cd.

Multitasking

Here is J singing his ABCs, taking a bath and blowing bubbles all at once. He's quite the multitasker! If you notice, he doesn't quite get L through P, but he tries! That's me in the background trying to not laugh too loudly so you could hear him on the video.

Joshua Swimming

So our swim lessons have been paying off with an increased enjoyment in playing in the pool and not having Mom in the pool. This is by far the most exciting for me. It was such a huge hassle to get Joshua and I out of the pool and dressed!

Here's a video of J swimming. He's not really 'swimming', but he understands what he suppose to do and tries!

Mother's Day

My Mother's Day was a lovely one. Nothing too exciting, but my favorite parts of it were these:

-Joshua kept telling me, "Happy Mother's Day, Mom"
-He took a late nap today and we went to wake him up we couldn't get him to wake up. He crawled into my lap and fell back asleep. While I should have woken him up (as I listen to him singing and talking in his bed), the opportunity to hold him while he was sleeping was one I couldn't pass up. He slept in my lap all cuddled and nestled into my chest for 20 minutes! So precious...he hasn't done that since he was 1!
-I got to work out! :)

In other news, we are getting ready to head to the West Coast here in a couple weeks. We are looking forward to it! We're going to see Uncle Dean and Aunt Tricia and we are going to visit Legoland!! I think I'm more excited about this than anyone else! :)

Joshua has started peeing in the potty...but it's only with bribes and when we catch him when he needs to pee...he's not really telling me he needs to go. I'm not forcing the issue, but after we come home from CA, we are buckling down!! He likes to do it because he likes to sit on the potty itself. We're using the Bjorn ones and he tries to carry it around the house to find the best spot to pee. I caught him the other day carrying his potty down the stairs because it needed to go in front of the tv! He's tried to put it on his bed too...we're definitely not training there!
