After the trip...
We arrived in Dallas around 3 pm Wednesday and by 6 pm we were at Kids Urgent Care because the Big Guy fell off his chair. Today, we got a cast and an official diagnosis of a fracture in his elbow. We're so sad because it wasn't a fun process and it officially ends our swim season. In addition, the doctor said that he can't play soccer. :( This was his first season and we were so looking forward to it!

Seattle/ Portland Trip
So Derek and I took advantage of having an opportunity to visit Seattle and Portland on our own without Joshua and before the new one arrives. We didn't rent a car and we spent the whole time walking or taking the train. We threw in a cab ride every now and then in order to get to the airports and train stations. :)
The best thing about the whole trip was mainly the weather. A 30 degree difference felt close to heaven for us and being able to be outside without sweating was SO nice! In the middle of this, we pretty much attempted to eat our way both cities and we came pretty darn close. Did a few touristy things like the Space Needle, EMP Museum, Harbor tours, Pike Place and in Portland we took a walking tour of the city and learned the history of the city. Other nice part was that we could eat at our leisure, tour museums and other places without rushing through and worrying that our child would cause a ruckus.

First night there I got to catch up with some old friends! It's been so long since I have seen Lynn and Erica that it was great to catch up!

Making Jam the easy way
Try using Ball Instant Pectin. I made raspberry jam in 20 minutes and it set in 30! It tastes SO much better than the store bought kind that I may never go back to store bought jam again. Joshua loves is so much that it is requested on everything!

We're becoming greener...
Not in the environmental way. Although I try everyday with my AC up at 77 degrees (even though it's 103 outside) and recycling everything under the sun. If we had a garden and a bigger yard, I would compost too! I am digressing, what I am trying to say is that I am sadly excited that my son is now a little more willing to eat green things. We have expanded our repertoire to kale (he loves them in baked form), asparagus, celery and occasionally peas. Since I don't like peas either, I can't really pressure him too much on that one.

4 year old check-up
So we had our 4 year checkup and this is the first time we had shots in 2 years, not counting the flu shot. I had prepared Joshua for it and it went as well as it could. There were tears, but he got a lollipop and then we went to Sonic and then to a friend's house to play. He ran a fever the next day, so we took it easy to recover.
Other than that, he is a whopping (he's actually pretty small), 35 lbs and 39 5/8 inches tall. I add the 5/8 because I know how important that extra almost inch is! I remember when he was little and he was the 90% in everything. He's in the 25-50% range now, but he's healthy and that's all that matters.

A new addition
Most everyone who reads this blog (and that's not many!) already knows that we are due to have another baby. We are at 21 weeks (i round up because it makes me feel better). This is our ultrasound of our little GIRL! :) She's due December 7th and we are looking forward to meeting her! December feels really far away, but the first half of this pregnancy has gone by really fast.

I keep meaning to update our blog and it keeps getting put to the wayside. Here's our family photo book that I put together for this year....I currently do it from July to July, so it starts from last summer.
