The Incomplete Man

So we had our Parent Teacher Conference for Joshua today. His teacher said that he is a rock star and he is a great preschooler, much to our relief. He makes her laugh, so I think that always helps in the classroom. :) He doesn't like anything related to Art, but does it when asked. He has never liked Art, so when asked to draw, it's never anything specific.

Anyways, The Incomplete Man is apparently an assessment they use on Preschoolers. And when asked to draw a picture of himself, Joshua didn't draw a complete picture of himself, but rather told a full story. This was ok by his teacher because she said that it told her so much more than the Incomplete Man could. Here is a picture of his drawing:

And let me explain...the red scribble is Joshua. He told his teacher that that is Joshua swimming up to his armpits in a pond (the blue circle all around). He is splashing and having fun. The scribble in the bottom left hand corner...that's Dad and he is splashing him which explains the scribbles on top of the drawing of Dad.

I thought this was hilarious and apparently so did his teacher. She said that he was doing great! Whew!

Samuel and Caroline do the same thing. Caroline recently had a scene of fighting tomatos! Creativity in Preschool is great!
