Words, words and more words..and a sentence!

It seems that Joshua is absorbing more and more information everyday and he amazes me with the amount of new words he now knows. It seems like he already knew or recognized a lot of the words, but all of a sudden decided that now would be a good time unleash them!

-Started with colors when he pointed out blue and yellow to me. I'm pretty sure that he recognizes red and green also, but he hasn't vocalized the actual words.
-Corn is 'popcorn'
-He can now name about half of the characters in Thomas the Tank. So that would be Thomas, Emily (this sounds more like "emmime"), Gordon and Toby
-Nooz is for Snoozers..a book he reads with Derek at night
-The cutest is when Derek comes home, he likes to run to the back door and say "Hello Dad". Tonight, instead of that he says, "Hi Dad. I see you, I see you!"
-Peas- this would be Please...he has mastered the art of saying please at just the right time...when he wants to watch "Thomas"!
-Sometimes if we say his name, he will shout, "Yes!"...other times when we are talking he will suddenly shout "Yes" again...makes me wonder what he understands now.
-If he is excited about something it becomes "Yea!". He does that when we get on an elevator or go for ice cream or for Chic-Fil-A. :)

He is definitely becoming much more opinionated and there are days when he says something to me and I cannot for the life of me decipher what he is trying to tell me. I feel bad that I can't understand him and I try really hard and he is actually a little patient and will repeat it several times. Unfortunately I end up giving up and just nodding my head. Hopefully he will forgive me for that. :)

Other than that we are in timeout quite a bit more than we used to be. Throwing of the cars has become our sticking point and he has to sit there quite a bit. Some days it's never, others (like today) it had to be at least 3 times. He doesn't like it and for an instant I feel bad because I wonder if it's because he's trying to tell me something and I can't understand or is it just because he didn't get his way? I think I can tell when he's mad about not getting his way, but there are times I wonder if I'm just punishing him for something he may not have done.

Well, I'm just rambling a bit now with my thoughts...feel free to contribute!

Welcome to discipling your child. We all wonder if we're doing the right thing, so don't feel bad - you're a normal mom!

Oh the terrible twos!! Fun stuff. I hate disciplining, it's never easy and so hard not to do it out of frustration.

I'd love to be able to look into the mind of a toddler when they are trying to talk to us and we "just don't get it." Sounds like he is right on target for being 2 with all that "wonderful" behavior
